St. Paul Public Schools Racial Equity Department is partnering with the Minnesota Historical Society to host a workshop including a panel of essayists featured in the anthology A Good Time for the Truth, and an exercise in writing your own racial autobiography. We hope to cultivate a deeper understanding about the connection between racial experience and education.
Here is the program description:
“Do you ever think about race and racial identity in Minnesota, or in your own school or classroom? Take a morning to learn and engage on this topic with other educators and with essayists from the book A Good Time for the Truth: Race in Minnesota.
The workshop will begin with a panel discussion and Q&A with three of the book’s essayist and followed by two sessions that connect the book’s themes back to the classroom. A number of communities and organizations have used this book to launch deep discussions and personal reflections. We think it’s important for teachers to have the same opportunity. The Minnesota Historical Society and Saint Paul Public School’s Multicultural Resource Center are partnering to offer this free workshop. “
The event is free, but registration is required. Click here to register!
